Abstract We propose a design, micro fabrication process, and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) based evaluation, of field gradient chip. The uni-axial linear z -gradient coil design was computed by stream-function method, with the optimisation goal to exhibit minimum power dissipation. coils were implemented on two bi-planes, which built-up Cu electroplating in combination photo definable dry-film laminates. In presented initial seed layer served as self-aligning back-side mask define mould, also implement resistive temperature detectors. process tailored enhance electroplated height construct low-resistive coils. Thermographic imaging integrated sensors allowed for investigating heat-up, order analyse current rating dual stack. assembled radio frequency flip-chip configuration. To demonstrate linearity, micro-engineered phantom fabricated subjected one-dimensional NMR experiment.
